30 for 30
Thirty. 3-0. Three decades on this planet. Wow. Honestly, I feel like I have already lived three lifetimes. Each decade has ripped my heart out, stomped on it, then amazingly, put it back together as something better than it was. I have a feeling that my 30s will be no different. In fact, I expect it. The thing is, now I am pissed. I am tired of letting life lead me and ready to make life my bitch for a while. In order to do so, I have made a list; a fabulous list of things to accomplish this year. Ready? My friends, please keep me accountable. If you can help me accomplish something on this list, please do.
- Find a new job.
- Lose 10 pounds.
- Pay off at least 1 credit card.
- Build a comfortable savings account.
- Travel somewhere with just Redden.
- Travel somewhere new.
- Take a class.
- Read 15 books.
- Visit a new restaurant in Lexington.
- Make a challenging recipe.
- Help Redden apply for SCAPA.
- Find a church and actively participate.
- Complete a Tough Mudder.
- Help in a Habitat build.
- Take a day off just for me.
- Adopt the right dog.
- Assign Redden a chore and teach him how to keep up with it.
- Blog at least once a month.
- Spend a day cooking with Mom.
- Make a new friend.
- Plan an international trip for 31.
- Give (or throw) away 10 things (not including clothes no longer in use).
- Send a care package.
- Host a dinner party.
- Hike a trail I have never hiked before.
- Learn to make (and master) Mom’s gravy and stuffing.
- Run in a race I haven’t run in before.
- Buy something frivolous.
- Repair something that is broken at home.
- Eat a new food.
Big list? Yes. Duh. The point is less about completing the list, and more about putting myself out there. Don’t get me wrong, I hope that I knock all of this stuff out of the ball park, plus some. Regardless of what I cross of this list, my ultimate goal this year is to start my 30s off with a bang. The bonus is the possibility of some great blog content.
Let’s see where this takes us.
